Transport
Public transport to UTS is excellent, with the city campus located at central train and bus interchange, and close to light rail. Over 70.5% of staff commute to UTS by public transport and 83.1% of students.
Sustainable commuting
Only 10.5% of staff and 4.5% of students travel to campus by car, nevertheless we have targets to increase active transport including improving the cycling rate for staff from the current 5.8% to 7% by 2024, and from 1.6% for students to 3%. We’re also aiming to increase the number of staff and students who walk to UTS from 10% to 11%.
There are multiple cycling facilities around campus, with secure bike parking, showers, and maintenance stands.
The university also supports carpooling.
Car parking at the city campus is very limited and nearby public parking stations are fairly expensive.
There are a number of shared pool vehicles for staff use available through Facilities Management.
With approximately 35,000 students and 3000 staff UTS is a major ‘trip generator’ and continually collects and analyses data on travel patterns in an effort to continually improve sustainable transport options for staff, students and visitors.
