RE-WIRED an Unpanel Event
An ideas exchange in the form of an unpanel with artists, scientists, musicians and thinkers with vested interests in creativity and innovation. Hosted by Benjamin Law.

UTS: ICI presents RE-WIRED a lively ideas exchange in the form of an 'unpanel' comprised of artists, scientists, musicians and thinkers with vested interests in creativity and innovation.
The eclectic and diverse assemblage of thinkers and practitioners will push, pull and play with the question of whether we have reached peak creativity ... or not.
Hosted by the very talented and erudite Benjamin Law RE-WIRED has been designed to ignite conversation, debate and momentum around the role creativity and creative intelligence has to play in a converging world.
The audience is guaranteed to be challenged, surprised and delighted and will have the opportunity to continue the conversation and debate over beverages and antipasto, post-'unpanel' from 4-6pm as part of the ticket price.

TV screenwriter, journalist and newspaper columnist for Good Weekend Benjamin is the author of two books; The Family Law and Gaysia: Adventures in the Queer East, both of which were nominated for Australian Book Industry Awards. The Family Law is now a TV series for SBS.
SPEAKERS
- Associate Professor Alison Beavis
Alison Beavis is an analytical chemist with research interests across areas such as the analysis of explosives, chemical warfare agents, and illicit drugs using various analytical techniques. She also leads to the gunshot residue analysis group in the Centre for Forensic Science and contributes extensively in the forensic intelligence space. Alison is the Assocate Head of School (Learning & Teaching) in the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences.
-Dr Tim Rayner
Currently teaching into the MBAe program at UTS Business School Tim is a self described Digital Philosopher who has taught Philosophy at the University of Sydney and is the writer of the award winning film, Coalition of the Willing (2010). Tim is motivated by positive change through activism, authorship, and social entrepreneurship.
-Dr Jan Golembiewski
A world leading researcher in architectural design psychology Jan Golembiewski is known for exploring the neurological mechanisms that create our experiences, with ‘Play’ important to his practice. Internationally recognised Jan is on the editorial board of three academic journals, a registered architect, a certifed Lean (Scrum) project manager, an innovation advocate and teacher as well as a practising and exhibiting artist.
- Dr Niraj (Nij) Lal
A Research Fellow in the Renewable Energy Laboratory at Monash University and CSIRO, researching nanophotonics for next-generation solar cells Nij was named one of ABC's Top 5 Scientists Under 40 in 2016. In 2012 he graduated as a Gates Scholar with a PhD in physics from the University of Cambridge and has worked as a bicycle courier and travelling science presenter to primary school kids across regional WA with Scitech. An author of two children’s books about science, Nij has been invited to speak at international conferences and has taught science at all levels to all ages, from pre-school to post-graduate.
- Stav Adameitis a.k.a Frida Las Vegas
A Sydney-based writer, stylist, art director and jewellery maker (under the name of Frida Las Vegas) Stav Adameitis also traverses the creative crafts of animation, film and media production. With an internship at the New York City headquarters of celebrity stylist Patricia Field (the celebrated costume designer of Sex and the City), editorial experience in London for the alterna-style bible Superstar magazine and articles penned for publications such as Collect, Merge and the Independent Weekly Stav has cultivated a signature style of pop art meets 1980s retro across all of her creative pursuits.
- Jonathan Jones
A member of the Wiradjuri and Kamilaroi nations of south-east Australia, artist, curator and researcher Jonathan Jones works across a range of mediums, spanning printmaking, drawing, sculpture, film, and site-specific installations and interventions into space that use light, subtle shadow and the repetition of shape and form to explore Aboriginal practices, relationships and ideas. Jones’s work champions local knowledge systems, is grounded in research of the historical archive and builds on community aspirations often drawing on everyday materials, Jonathan is currently researching the enduring use of the line by male Aboriginal artists in the south-east. His research, titled Murruwaygu: following the footsteps of our ancestors, culminated in a major exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 2015-16.
- Giles Hardie
One of Australia's leading film critics and entertainment journalists , Giles has also been the Managing Editor of CollegeHumor Australia and the Entertainment Editor for The Sydney Morning Herald online. With a deep knowledge of Australia's entertainment industry, Giles can speak at length about television and film offerings - even when he hasn't seen them - and can be found occasionally presenting on ABC702 and at live events around Sydney. He has also been arrested with the Chaser, produced daytime television and subtitled films about drills, without any regrets, embarrassment or lasting side effects.
- Claire Evans
Claire is the Co-Partner and Managing Director of Grumpy Sailor, a boutique creative technology and production company based in Sydney. Grumpy Sailor develops and creates stories using innovative media and digital platforms, collaborating with partners that include Google's Creative Lab, Sydney Opera House, The State Library of NSW, and Bell Shakespeare. Claire is also the Producer of Kings of Baxter, a feature documentary which follows a group of detainees from the Frank Baxter Juvenile Justice Centre as they stage a performance of Macbeth (due for completion in early 2017). Claire is an active member within the screen and digital community and has been invited to speak at ACMI, AFTRS, Metroscreen and has presented at SPAA, VIVID Ideas and DocLab NZ.
