UTSpeaks: Engineering Our Selves
Is education producing people who will flourish in the future?

June 5th 2007

Political and media commentators regularly call for back-to-basics education in schools and universities and a focus on traditional social values, but is nostalgia for the past the best guide for preparing for the future?

This free public lecture explores how identity is shaped through education and experiences of learning and how personal attributes play a key role in the contemporary workplace.

Mark Tennant
Mark Tennant is Professor of Education and Dean of the UTS Faculty of Education. His academic focus has been on developing a critical understanding of psychology in its application to pedagogy, with an emphasis on post-secondary education contexts. He has used new concepts emerging in critical psychology to better understand the interface of pedagogy, self and work. Mark is well published in journals and texts and the author of several books on psychology in adult learning.
