UTSpeaks: When green water is best
Achieving a water resource smart Australia

August 15th 2006

We have lived for too long as if water from our taps will flow forever, regardless of the natural cycles and processes that replenish it.

We are aghast at the idea of water rate increases or any hint of disruption to supply. We seem to want governments to make new water sources available, as if by magic.

This free public lecture will detail crucial issues and initiatives associated with Australia’s most valuable resource – not just water supply and conservation, but most importantly, the real value of services that nature provides to humans for free.

Guest speaker - Ken Matthews
Ken Matthews is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Water Commission and heads a team working with Australia’s states and territories to implement the National Water Initiative.

Professor Tally Palmer
Director of the UTS Institute for Water and Environmental Resource Management, Tally Palmer is an aquatic ecologist with broad experience in making water research useful in public policy development and integrated water resource management.
