UTS tops Hong Kong-Australia Business Association Awards
David

UTS took the inaugural Grand Prize and a major category prize at the Hong Kong-Australia Business Association [HKABA] NSW Business Awards 2005 here in Sydney last week.

Now in their sixth year, the awards recognise NSW individuals and companies who strive for excellence in all aspects of international trade between Australia and Hong Kong.

A partnership between a UTS offshore centre and the Hong Kong Management Association [HKMA] was nominated in two categories for the awards – Export of Services and Contribution to Industry. The offshore centre delivers UTS engineering and education degree programs to more than 700 Hong Kong students, across seven different courses

UTS was awarded the prize for Contribution to Industry and then took the overall Grand Prize, beating stiff competition from rivals such as Minter Ellison, Virgin Atlantic and the AGSM.

While accepting the Grand Prize UTS, Vice President (International) David Goodman recognized the importance of UTS’s partnership with HKMA and acknowledged the efforts of those in the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Education whose programs were delivered in Hong Kong and Tze Ay Chuah, Director of UTS Offshore.

The Hong Kong-Australia Business Association Inc. (HKABA), initiated by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, was established in 1987 aiming to promote a positive image for Hong Kong and to reinforce economic ties between Hong Kong/China and Australia.
