Closure of Jones Street

UTS is planning to extend the existing pedestrian network within the City Campus to the Fairfax Building and Building T on the corner of Thomas and Jones Streets. The extension will link the Peter Johnson Building with the new Complex thereby creating a secure environment for students and staff.

The redevelopment of what is at present an uninspiring landscape will greatly benefit the local area and enhance Ultimo as an educational precinct.

Students travelling by either bus or train will be able to access Building 6 and Building 1 via the new Ultimo Pedestrian Network into the back of the Peter Johnson Building (DAB) and gain access to the Fairfax Building via the City Campus and Alumni Green.

UTS has been consulting with other stakeholders in the area including the Sydney Institute and the City of Sydney regarding this concept.

Next Actions

The landscaping works to Jones Street are proposed to occur in conjunction with the refurbishment of Building T during 2003 and 2004.
