UTS News, the University's fortnightly newspaper, has leapt from paper to hypertext with the launch of an online edition.
The site, at http://www.utsnews.uts.edu.au, currently features the first issue of UTS News for this year, with a lead story on UTS research to develop a non-invasive method for the testing of blood glucose levels - a project set to benefit diabetics around the world.
UTS News editor, Dr Anne Sarzin, said it is anticipated that the online UTS News will be an important resource that keeps students, staff and friends informed of UTS achievements and activities.
"More importantly, we believe UTS News now has the potential to reach a wide range of audiences in our global village," Dr Sarzin said.
"While we welcome this new and strategically important communications tool, we will continue to bring out our high-quality print edition of UTS News, which circulates widely to staff and students on all campuses.
"UTS News is the University's flagship publication that more than any other conveys an image of a university that is relevant to the hopes and lives of students, the research and interests of academic and support staff respectively, and the needs of the immediate precinct and wider community.
"With a new website for the new year in the new millennium, UTS News is confidently poised to bring to our readers and now our viewers the stories that reflect this dynamic teaching, learning and research institution."
