Marionette masterpieces add colour and fun to Kuring-gai campus info day

Hand-crafted marionettes that were the pride of the Griffiths Marionette Company for more than half a century will entertain visitors at the UTS Kuring-gai campus Info Day on Saturday 1 September.

UTS drama students will roam the campus providing impromptu performances using the marionettes that were a recent gift to the University. Performers from Zanni Productions will also add to the fun as fairies on stilts, roaming magicians and clowns.

Apart from sharing the energy that is part of life at UTS, the Info Day program will provide invaluable information to school leavers who have their sights set on studying at university.

Info Day organiser Skaidy Gulbis said information on undergraduate courses and careers in business, nursing, midwifery and health, education and drama and music would be on hand.

"UTS graduates are among the most employable in Australia and Info Day is a great opportunity for prospective students and their parents to find out why," she said.

"Visitors can also learn about course entry requirements, orientation week, housing, health and counselling services, overseas study, career opportunities, short courses, scholarships and support services.

"Parent information sessions will explain our student support services which help our students have a smooth transition from high school to university and we can answer parents' questions."

A free sausage sizzle and drinks will be available on the day.

For those who can't come along, a virtual tour of UTS courses, careers and lifestyle is available via the web page at www.openday.uts.edu.au.

UTS will hold its Kuring-gai campus Info Day between 10am and 4pm on 1 September.
