INSEARCH pathways to UTS
INSEARCH is a major pathway provider to UTS.
INSEARCH is a registered Australian higher education institution and a major pathway provider to University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). INSEARCH has been educating students for over twenty years and is an important part of the UTS community. INSEARCH students have access to UTS facilities which enables them to experience university life while studying at INSEARCH. The majority of INSEARCH diploma courses provide 48 credit points of advanced standing, which is equivalent to one year of study at UTS. Entry into INSEARCH is based on both prior academic performance and English language proficency.
Academic Preparation Courses
The INSEARCH academic preparation courses are recognised by UTS for advanced entry into select UTS courses.
All INSEARCH academic preparation courses are designed and taught by UTS teaching staff, and are approved by the UTS academic board.
UTS Foundation Studies
UTS Foundation Studies is a UTS program, delivered by INSEARCH on behalf of UTS.
Students who complete the UTS Foundation Studies program with the required grades are eligible for admission to the first year of undergraduate courses at UTS or can enter diploma programs at INSEARCH. UTS Foundation Studies subjects include Academic English and Digital Literacy designed for preparing students for university studies. There are nine different streams in the program: Business, Law, Health Sciences, Physical Sciences, Information Technology, Design, Arts and Social Sciences, Architecture and Education.
UTS Foundation Studies (Accelerated)

The program is designed for students who have completed the equivalent of an Australian year 12 but not met the entry requirements for UTS undergraduate programs or INSEARCH diploma courses.
UTS Foundation Studies (Standard)
(3 Semesters: 12 months) CRICOS Course Code: 068814M UTS course code: CS30014
The program is designed for students who have completed the equivalent of an Australian year 11 or 12, who have not met the entry requirements for UTS undergraduate programs or INSEARCH diploma courses.

Diploma Courses
Diploma courses are offered in the fields of:
- business
- information technology
- design
- communication
- science
- engineering
Successful completion of some diploma courses leads into the relevant UTS course with advanced standing of up to one year.
Students with strong academic results can complete, in a year or less, a:
- Diploma in Business and Commerce (advanced standing), or
- Diploma of Information Technology (fast-track)
- These courses can lead into the relevant UTS course with advanced standing of one year.
INSEARCH also offers courses which provide pathways into degrees in:
- architecture
- design
- mathematics
- science, and
- nursing
Successful completion of an INSEARCH Diploma may lead to direct entry into the second year of the relevant UTS degree.
English Language Courses
INSEARCH English language courses can help you gain entry to UTS and prepare you for university life.
INSEARCH is one of Australia's largest language centres, with more than 15 years of experience in teaching English.
INSEARCH teachers are experienced professionals and small class sizes ensure that students receive personal attention. Excellent resources, including an English Language Resource Centre, mean that students of INSEARCH language programs are extermely successful in securing places at UTS.
Direct Entry English Program
Many students begin their studies at UTS by undertaking the intensive 10-week Direct Entry English Program (DEEP).
DEEP is recognised as a formal UTS English qualification. By successfully completing DEEP, you are not required to sit additional external English examinations, such as IELTS, to gain entry into UTS.
Academic English Pathway
The Academic English Pathway (AEP) course focuses on your topics of academic interest.
The course prepares you for study in Australian universities, INSEARCH diploma courses, and can prepare you for entry to DEEP and IELTS courses.
