Equity and Diversity Unit

UTS sees the diversity represented in its student community as a positive feature of university life. The university provides educational schemes and pathways to ensure that people from the widest range of backgrounds have an opportunity to access our courses.

The Equity and Diversity Unit provides advice and support for any UTS student who has an equity-related complaint, including:

  • Grievances and complaints handling

In some cases, you may feel you have suffered unreasonable treatment, disadvantage or distress which cannot be resolved by simply raising it with the person concerned. This is known as a grievance.

For further information refer to the Equity and Diversity Unit's Student Complaints website at http://www.equity.uts.edu.au/complaints/index.html.

  • Discrimination and harassment prevention

Both direct and indirect discrimination are unlawful in all aspects of employment and education at UTS. Discrimination means treating someone unfairly because they happen to belong to a particular group of people. UTS is committed to ensuring the elimination of any discrimination or harassment in employment, education and service delivery on the grounds of sex, race, colour, descent, national or ethnic origin, ethnoreligious background, marital status, sexual orientation etc.

The Equity and Diversity Unit provides confidential equity related grievance advice to both students and staff who feel they may have been discriminated against or harassed.
