International Students

Your family

Students with families who wish to bring their dependants with them will need to arrange entry through the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC).

Information about the requirments, procedures and forms are available from the Department's website about How to Apply for Dependant Family Members to Join You.

To be eligible to apply, you will need to be enrolled in a full-time course with duration of at least one year.

If you are bringing school-aged dependants to Australia, you will normally be required to pay full fees if they are enrolled in either a government or non-government school. DIAC will process the visa with a letter of verification of your full-time status from the University. To find out about enrolling your children in school you can refer to the NSW Department of Education website.

If parents, siblings and friends wish to visit you in Australia, they can apply for a short stay (visitor) visa. See the DIAC website for more information.
