Choosing a host university
What to consider when choosing a university:
- Consider what kind of experience you are interested in: academic, cultural, linguistic or even travel-influenced.
- Be realistic about your financial means; some countries are more expensive than others.
- Try to focus on partner universities that teach subjects in your degree area.
- At some universities you can only study for one semester. If you want to study for two semesters, make sure you pick at least one university that has 'high availability'. You can find this out by looking under 'Availability' listed on each exchange partner university profile.
- Student Feedback - reports from previous students as well as prospectuses and brochures from partner universities are available at the UTS International office (Level 3 of the UTS Tower Building).
Language of instruction
You have the option of studying in both English speaking and non-English speaking countries. You don't always need to speak the native language to study in a non-English speaking country; however we suggest that you undertake a basic or introductory language course before you leave to make the transition easier. A lot of the UTS partner universities also teach in English and many run free or inexpensive pre-semester intensive language programs.
Studying in Language Other Than English (LOTE)
If you are studying subjects in a LOTE you are advised to attain UTS Level 8 language proficiency. You will also need to meet the host university language requirements.
