Your feedback counts

We use your feedback and advice to improve the services and support we offer you. This feedback ensures we know what you need and the best way we can provide it for you.

We regularly survey students on a range of issues. We also run focus groups to get your feedback on the information and booklets we provide you, such as pre-departure and settling in guides, and we involve students with testing new websites. Surveys are a great opportunity to provide your feedback, however if there is something you’d like to tell us that is not covered in our surveys, you can send us an email.

Some of the regular formal surveys we conduct:

  • International Student Experience Survey
  • International Student Barometer
  • Student survey on agent services

How we have responded to your feedback

  • Employment and work experience.

We have extended opportunities for students to gain meaningful employment and work experience. This includes:

  • Accommodation.

We opened additional on-campus accommodation for 720 students in June 2011. Read more about the new accommodation on the UTS Housing website.

  • Sporting facilities.

Our new multi-purpose sports hall opened in March 2011. This new centre, a hub for social sports club activities, includes an indoor sports court, gym and dance studios, plus teaching and learning facilities. The complements our existing fitness centre.

  • Academic and exam assistance

We have provided extra information in our prospectuses, pre-departure guides and arrival guides to help you locate services on campus to assist you with any difficulties you face. Some of these services include HELPS that provides academic and English language support

  • Airport welcome.

UTS International utilises an airport reception desk to welcome new international students. We are discussing with our Student Services Unit to extend the services we offer to international students on arrival at the airport.

  • Pre-arrival information.

You indicated a high level of satisfaction with our pre-arrival information (84% satisfaction). However we are taking the opportunity to further improve the services and information available.
We have developed a publication “Your Future Starts Here”, that we send out with offers for study at UTS. It contains information about living in Sydney, support services at UTS and handy hints from students already studying with us. We are now working on a smaller pocket sized version that will be handy for you to bring on campus when you arrive and a version that will be accessible on the website and on mobile devices.

We are also increasing the number of pre-departure webinars to students still located overseas and are working with our students representative agents to provide them with more information to make your pre-arrival and transition into study at UTS easier.
