AusAID students returning home

As an AusAID sponsored student, you are required to leave Australia prior to the expiration of your AusAID student visa, or within 30 days of the completion of studies, whichever comes first.

UTS will arrange a return home workshop and farewell ceremony for all completing AusAID sponsored students to attend prior to the departure.

To request return home travel, you are required to complete and return the Return Home Flight Booking Form to the International Sponsored Students Team.

If you are in Australia with a spouse who is also on an AusAID scholarship, you may remain in Australia until your spouse completes his or her AusAID scholarship. You will need to transfer to an AusAID Dependant Visa, at your own expense.

To request this change to an AusAID Dependant Visa, you must inform International Sponsored Students Team at least 3 months before your scholarship end date, as UTS needs to contact AusAID (Canberra) to obtain a "no objection letter" which you will need when you apply for the AusAID Dependant Visa.

As per your scholarship conditions, you are required to return home for at least two years following the completion of your degree. Note that any time spent in Australia during the two year return home period will accordingly extend the end date. Failure to meet these conditions will activate a Debt to the Commonwealth detailed in Section 5.7 of the AusAID Scholarships Handbook (opens an external site).

You are required to contact the relevant AusAID post to obtain a Letter of Support for all visa applications.
