The Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is a numerical measure of a student’s overall academic achievement in the NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) in relation to that of other students. This measure allows the comparison of students who have completed different combinations of HSC courses. The ATAR is calculated solely for use by institutions, to rank and select school leavers for admission - it indicates a student's place in relation to their peers.
Course ATAR cut-offs
The ATAR needed to get into a course represents the popularity of that course, not the difficulty level.
To get an indication of the ATAR for particular courses, use the ATAR search tool.
Remember to use this as a guide. Course ATAR cut-offs change from year to year.
