Singaporean Polytechnics pathways
UTS Faculty of Science’s partnership with Singaporean Polytechnics offers Polytechnic students unique pathways into undergraduate Science degrees.
Recognition of prior learning
Students who successfully complete their diploma may be eligible for recognition of prior learning. This varies according to the diploma undertaken, the student’s final GPA and the chosen UTS bachelor degree.
Students with a GPA of 3.0 or above receive 1.5 years of recognition of prior learning. Students who have a GPA of 2.5 - 2.99 are still eligible for 1.0 years of recognition of prior learning.

Research Internships
UTS Faculty of Science offers students from partner Singaporean Polytechnics, an opportunity to complete short-term research internships at UTS City Campus.
During the course of the internship (usually 12-14 weeks), the students would be supervised by a UTS:Science researcher to work independently in a science lab and to contribute to an existing research project. UTS:Science staff work closely with Polytechnic Internship Coordinators to make the necessary arrangements.
This is a great opportunity for Singapore Polytechnic students to:
- have an international internship experience
- develop research skills in one of the best Science facilities in the world
- become familiar with the Australian Education system and explore options for further studies
- experience the best of Sydney by studying in the heart of the City.
Students who successfully complete a research internship at UTS Science as part of their Polytechnic Internship Program will be granted 0.5 year additional recognition of prior learning.
For more information, please contact your relevant Polytechnic Internship Coordinator.

Testimonials
Yu Winnie Ng
Project: Nanotechnology and biomolecular fingermark detection techniques
Supervisor: Dr Jessirie Dilag (Professor Claude Roux’s team)
Diploma of Chemical Engineering at Temasek
“I chose UTS because I wanted to study in a non-Asian country and at a university that was easily accessible and centrally located in a cosmopolitan city. I really enjoyed my internship experience at UTS because I got to do a lot of hands-on independent work in the lab, which is not something I usually do. Being in a foreign country, I also experienced a lot of activities that I don’t usually have a chance to do in Singapore such as snowboarding, going to national parks, skydiving etc…”
Pei Wen Teo
Project: Analytical and forensic toxicology
Supervisor: Morgan Philp (Associate Professor Shanlin Fu’s team)
Chemical Engineering Diploma at Temasek Polytechnic
“I’d definitely recommend this program and UTS to my friends. I’ve learnt a lot and grown up so much because of this experience. Knowing myself and that I can be quite independent, have been the best part of my experience. You realise that there’s no mum and dad, you have to make your own breakfast, manage your money and do everything yourself!”
