Opportunities beyond the classroom

Ready to launch yourself into the world? At the School of International Studies, we actively support you to take on life-changing challenges, build your professional experience, and make the most of the world beyond our campus. Here’s what we can offer:

Study overseas

In-country study: Itchy feet? Combine your professional degree with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and spend a year living and studying overseas. Choose from one of 14 country majors based on your academic and cultural interests — and your wanderlust!

International Intensive Electives: Make a flying visit with an International Intensive Elective. You can add these short programs to any UTS degree, gaining credit for spending 3–4 weeks overseas.

Internships and work placements

Global Studies internships: If you’re ready to see the world, or to learn about it from home, a Bachelor of Global Studies internship can help you do it. Undertake either a domestic work placement in a company with a global focus, or head off overseas for an internship with a UTS partner organisation.

Voluntary internships: Looking for specific practical experience? Arrange a voluntary internship in Australia or overseas.

Student life

Studying is important, but a great university experience is also about being part of a social and supportive community outside the classroom. As a UTS student, you’ll study and socialise in a stimulating urban environment with a vibrant café culture, access to an onsite gym and ultra-modern spaces. Pursue new or existing interests by joining one of our many clubs and societies, or make the most of your time the heart of one of the world’s great cities. Whatever your interest UTS offers a wide variety of opportunities to get involved with campus life.
