BIT co-op benefits

There has never been a better time to study IT at UTS with 46 places offered again in 2012 in the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) Co-operative Scholarship program. The program has grown due to the strong support of our sponsors, including a record six places from WiseTech Global (opens external site) in 2012.

Students undertake two six month full-time industry placements with sponsor organisations and placements are now offered overseas by WiseTech Global.

The BIT is an IT course with a business and leadership focus. Graduates from this course are highly sought after and often find employment well before they graduate. This course fast tracks you into industry in only three years and has a track record of 100% employment for its graduates. Most go on to work with their sponsor organisations.

The scholarship

If your application is successful, you will receive around $15,500 during each year of your studies - a total of around $46,500.

This scholarship is funded by high profile industry sponsors, who may be your future employers.

BInfTech graduates are first choice recruits for the sponsoring companies and other well-known organisations.

In addition, there are discretionary awards that may be available for Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) co-op scholarship program students.

Course structure

Students benefit from a course designed by UTS in conjunction with leading companies and gain exposure to real problems, learning alongside IT professionals. As well as a degree recognised by the Australian Computing Society, they have the experience of two industry placements with two separate sponsoring organisations. Your industry placements are an integrated work-based learning experience which includes formal coursework offered by industry. WiseTech Global are now offering overseas industry placements in London and Chicago.

This course covers some of the same material as the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Diploma in Information Technology Professional Practice, but has more of a business focus. It includes two compulsory six-month blocks of industry placements with the sponsor organisations.
