Jumbunna has a dedicated team of Outreach Officers who are available to visit schools and speak to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students about university life and Jumbunna’s Direct Entry Pathway Program. Find out more through Schools Outreach. The Outreach Officers also work with faculty team members across UTS to develop on campus events for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. 

On campus events: 

  • Nanga Mai school visists and campus tours - a free, introductory program for Indigenous high school students who want to study at university. Nanga Mai means ‘to dream’ in Gadigal language, and we want you to dream big about your UTS future. This program has been designed to give year 10, 11 and 12 students a taste of university life. It’s open to all students of academic backgrounds, no matter which school you go to or what sort of grades you get. 

  • Galuwa Engineering and IT Experience - A 5-day program for students who are interested in the fields of engineering or IT, as well as those who naturally have an aptitude for maths, creative thinking and problem solving and are unsure of which career path to follow. The free program features interactive hands-on workshops, site visits with industry partners, cultural activities, information about career paths and lunch. Participants also hear inspirational talks from Indigenous and non-Indigenous students, cadets and professionals.

  • Galuwa Health Experience - A 3-day program for students who are interested in the fields of nursing, midwifery and sport and exercise science. The free program features interactive hands-on workshops, site visits with industry partners, cultural activities, information about career paths and lunch. Participants also hear inspirational talks from Indigenous and non-Indigenous students, cadets and professionals.

  • UTS Open Day | 26 August 2017 | Students and parents are invited to visit our City campus to participate in a day of info sessions, workshops and tours. Attendees can talk about UTS courses with current students and academics, as well as find out about scholarships, pathways and application information.

Course specific events:

  • Bachelor of IT Co-Op Scholarship Information Evening | 2 August 2017 from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm | The BIT attracts high calibre students who are passionate about technology and motivated by the exciting opportunities which are emerging.
  • Forensic Science Moot Court | 11 August 2017 | Year 11 students are invited to attend and learn about how the evidence that is collected by a Forensic Scientist is used in a Court Room to convict or clear someone of a crime. You will participate in workshops with both the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Science around the importance of forensic evidence. Registration is required - maximum of three students per school. 
  • The Science Experience | 31 October - 2 November 2017 | A three day, hands-on science outreach program for year 9 an 10 students (entering into year 10) from all over Australia, make the pilgrimage to Sydney where they experienced the UTS culture (friendly and real), uni life, dabble with real science experiments, take on maths challenges, exposed to state-of-the-art science facilities, hear from passionate and aspiring research students.
  • Discover Nursing at UTS Information Session | 15 November 2017 | There's more to modern nursing than meets the eye. Come along to one of our interactive workshops and Discover Nursing @ UTS.
     

Past events: 

  • Experience UTS Day | 6 July 2017 - Year 10 - 12 students are invited to visit our city campus and take part in a range of workshops and info sessions from across our different course areas. Students can cater the day to their interests choosing to take part in a single workshop or a full day of activities. This event is open to all NSW high school students. 

  • Faculty of Science Work Experience | UTS: Science has a High School Work Experience program available for high school students in NSW in conjunction with the Department of Education and Training’s (DET) guidelines. The program is based around the teaching and research of the team's science laboratories and is to some extent an introduction to tertiary science.

  • Discover Nursing at UTS Information Session | 12 July 2017 at 5.30pm | There's more to modern nursing than meets the eye. Come along to one of our interactive workshops and Discover Nursing @ UTS. 

  • HSC Economics and Business Studies workshop | 22 July from 9:00 am till 1:00 pm | UTS Business School is hosting a workshop for all students doing Economics and or Business Studies in their HSC.
