Clinical Psychology

Clinical placements

UTSĀ Master of Clinical Psychology students experience a diverse range of clinical placement opportunities. Students complete a minimum of 1,000 placement hours over the two year program, both during semester and block placements between semesters. These hours encompass face to face consultations with patients, supervision hours, and clinical activities.

Finding a placement

Placements are generally sourced for students by the UTS Graduate School of Health.

Occasionally students may choose to source their own clinical placement (around a particular area of interest or location, for example), but most prefer to take advantage of provided placements as these sites are carefully selected to complement in-class learning.

UTS Psychology Clinic

The first placement for all students will be undertaken in the custom-built, state of the art on-site UTS Psychology Clinic under the supervision of established and endorsed Clinical Psychologists.

The UTS Psychology Clinic is located in the new Thomas St Building in the Sydney CBD and is now open and taking appointments.

Off-site placements

Graduates complete over half their placement hours at placement sites in a range of key settings including hospital, specialist and private practices.

Graduates may be allocated placements in key areas such as:

  • Adult mental health
  • Child and family health
  • Sexual Health
  • Oncology
  • Rehabilitation
  • Drug and Alcohol

Graduates have the ability to choose an area of practice they would like to focus on for their final clinical placement and, pending availability, will be allocated a placement within that area.
