The settings page can be used to modify the behaviour of UTS webmail and your email account. You can configure Mail deletion options, Message filing, Mail forwarding and Reply Quoting. Each setting is discussed under a heading below.

Deleting Mail

There are two ways to deal with deleting mail. The most popular method(webmails default behaviour) is to place all deleted mail into the Trash folder. You can configure webmail to use any existing folder in your email account. Optionally you can also choose to have all messages in that folder deleted when you log out.

The other way to delete mail is to mark it as deleted(it will still appear in the mail folder but with a red X next to it) and delete them at a later date. Webmail can be configured to expunge all marked mail when you logout(tick the box next to "Remove deleted messages from inbox on logout " or you can manually delete them by clicking on the Expunge button on the webmail tool bar.

Filing Sent Messages

You can file a copy of all sent messages into a folder. By default webmail places a copy of all sent messages in the Sent folder. You can configure a different folder by selecting one from the drop down menu or you can turn this off altogether by unticking the box.

Filing Message Drafts

This decides where drafts get stored when you click the "Save Draft" button in the webmail composition window. The default folder is the "Draft's" folder. You can choose a different folder using the drop down menu.

Reply Quoting

Reply quoting places a copy of the message you are replying to in the body of the email. This is turned on by default. You can turn this off by unticking the box.

Mail Forwarding

If you have another email account you can choose to forward your mail there. Simply type your other email address(es) into the text entry box. If there are multiple addresses place each one on a new line. If you will not be checking your uts email account for mail you should untick "Leave Local Copy" to prevent your account from going over quota.
