Spam control at UTS currently utilises the SpamAssassin program to identify suspicious email messages. SpamAssassin performs many tests, including header and body checks and realtime block lists (RBLs) to allocate scores. Further information on SpamAssassin tests is available on SpamAssassin's tests page.
Messages which have a score above 6 are not
delivered to the user, which has proven to have an extremely low false positive
rate. The personalised spam control page allows users to set their own
personal filtering level to 5 (Cautious), 4 (Aggessive) or 3 (very aggressive).
Executable Attachments
UTS does not accept email with execuable attachments. Any of these messages will be returned to the sender, with the exception of virus infected mail which will be deleted immediately. Further information is available here
