SHOUTS Sex-based Harassment out of UTS

UTS is committed to ensuring that all students and staff are treated fairly, and can study and work in an environment free from harassment. The UTS Policy on the Prevention of Harassment outlines the rights and responsibilities of all UTS staff, students and visitors.

Discrimination, harassment and victimisation are against the law and will not be tolerated at the University.

The Equity & Diversity Unit has developed a long-term, university-wide campaign called SHOUTS (Sex-Based Harassment Out of UTS). The campaign includes public events and forums, Peer Education and support training for Residential Networkers, awareness and training workshops for academic and general staff, web-based information and online training, the development & distribution of promotional materials such as posters and postcards, and orientation information for all new staff.

Ms Anna McPhee (Director of  EOWA, the Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency) officially launched the campaign, together with the Vice-Chancellor, The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the Australian Chairman of UNIFEM White Ribbon Day, Andrew O'Keefe and White Ribbon Day Ambassador Dr Tanveer Ahmed. Ms Anne Dwyer, Vice-President (Organisational Support) acted as MC for the event.

If you have any questions about the SHOUTS campaign, if you are unsure what sex-based harassment is, or if you have any questions about your rights and responsibilities here at UTS, please contact Daniel O'Neill at the Equity & Diversity Unit on 9514 1085.
