Apply for UTS Housing

UTS Housing has over 1,160 bedrooms across five residences to offer to UTS students. 
Our next applications for 2017 are now open.
 
Please note that:
  • To be eligible for UTS accommodation, you must be enrolled or intend to enrol, as a UTS student doing either an undergraduate, a postgraduate or research degree for the relevant accommodation period being sought in the application
  • UTS student bedrooms are for one person only (except twin shares) 
  • We do not cater for couples or family accommodation
 

How to apply

  2. Have a look at the different residences, rooms and fees associated
     
  3. Once you’ve found something that suits your style and budget, you can complete the online application form.  
    If you have any issues accessing this form please contact the UTS Housing Service office.
     
  4. Once you’ve completed the online application form, it will be reviewed by the UTS Housing Admissions Officer. If successful, you will receive an offer letter that you will need to respond to within the period specified in the letter. If you do not respond to the offer then we will assume that you no longer want the accommodation and it will be re-allocated.
 
UTS also has reserved beds with private providers for UTS students and UTS INSEARCH students.
 

Selection criteria

To ensure that room allocations are equal and fair, we follow a set of selection criteria as a guide when allocating places to new applicants. Please ensure you provide us with clear information in relation to any issues requiring special consideration.

To be eligible for UTS accommodation, you must to enrolled or intend to enrol (minimum 2 subjects), as a UTS student doing either an undergraduate, a postgraduate or research degree for the relevant accommodation period being sought in the application.

Due to the limited amount of available beds, UTS INSEARCH students cannot apply for UTS Housing.
We encourage them to apply for UTS reserved beds.

 
If you are enrolled as above, the following selection criteria are used when reviewing your application:
 
  • previous academic achievement
  • year of study/faculty/program
  • gender balance
  • geographic origin
  • track record or interest in contributing positively to residential life
  • preference given to full-time students
 
Special consideration may be given to applicants who have:
 
  • limited financial means*
  • a relevant disability where the need for UTS accommodation can be linked to learning needs
  • gained admission to UTS via a special admissions scheme (eg. inpUTS, Jumbunna) or via an AusAid Scholarship.
* Set criteria are used by UTS to assess whether a student is experiencing financial hardship and is eligible for financial assistance. For more general information, please contact the financial assistance service.


Resident reapplications

Current residents who want to continue living in UTS Housing are required to fill in a resident reapplication form before the end of their current Licence Agreement. 
 
The following considerations apply when reviewing your reapplication:
 
  • involvement in the UTS Housing community and activities
  • overall length of stay in UTS Housing residences
  • history of residence, including academic progress, financial payments and disciplinary records
  • special needs or extenuating circumstances
  • students should still be enrolled (minimum of 2 subjects) as a UTS student during the relevant accommodation period being sought in the application
  • preference given to full-time students
