Business, politics, the social sector and creative industries exist in ever-more dynamic and complex environments. Some of the key challenges of our time are developing leaders that are capable of constantly adapting, facilitating multiple perspectives and seeing innovation opportunities on the horizon. By the time you graduate will you be ready to step up to the leadership challenge?
Global leaders are increasingly looking to emotional intelligence and our ability to "see the world from another's perspective" as being central to the future of leadership. The key ingredient is empathy - a basic human condition that not only requires us to sense the emotions and perspectives of others, but also to use this new understanding to fundamentally change our behavior, decision-making and outlook on life. We hear this all the time, yet most of us don't know how to feel empathy.
Welcome to BUiLD's Empathy... Workshop Series. In our fun, engaging and extremely relevant sessions you will be immersed in many elements of empathy. Our facilitator, empathy expert Nathan Wiltshire, will guide you to discover the neuroscience, psychology and philosophical dimensions of empathy. Meanwhile, you'll learn useful methods of applying emotional intelligence to better understand yourself and others in many areas of your own life.
The Empathy... Workshop Series are a series of 4 x 2.5 hour sessions commencing at the beginning of the Autumn session. In addition to interactive workshops, you will undertake a mini-empathy project between workshops where you will be able to apply empathy skills in the real world! Participants will all receive a university certificate of achievement on competition of this program and 20 CORE CLiCS towards BUiLD!
