Welcome to the Special Needs Service

The Special Needs Service (SNS) is the University’s central contact point for all students living with one or more disabilities, medical or mental health conditions, to request assistance and support, access services, assessment arrangements and reasonable adjustments to enable an accessible and inclusive learning environment.

Whilst the main focus of Special Needs service provision remains on students participation in their learning and coursework, and minimising the impacts of disability and health conditions upon study, as far as possible, the Special Needs Service also provides opportunities for students to build upon their individual strengths and strategies in learning how to manage disabilities and ongoing health conditions in the study environment and in preparation for transition following university. We aim to assist students to develop their independence, self-determination and self-advocacy skills to enable participation in a productive and concerted way.

To receive support from the Special Needs Service, you will need to register. You can view further information about eligibility and how to register using the links below.

You can read more about the assistance and services available from Special Needs such as general access and individual support services, as well as assessment arrangements and exam provisions under the Services and Assistance link below.
