Honours, electives or exchange?

My degree is a bit of a strange creature in that you can actually do an honours thesis (20-25000 words) within the regular 4 year degree. This has it's advantages and disadvantages.

You are able to focus on a significant piece of work that is of interest to you, but you do miss out on choosing 6 electives. We've been told that you have to be passionate about what you are doing and that you are very good at working independently.

There are lots of other pros and cons, but I will keep exploring. I have a few weeks before I need to make the decision to apply or not.

I was also wanting to go on exchange for a semester, but I think that's not going to work out, unfortunately. That is a whole other post in itself.
