Cooperative scholarships
UTS has two cooperative scholarship courses.
The Bachelor of Accounting (BAcc) and the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) attract the brightest students to competitive places sponsored by industry partners.
IBM is one of the sponsors of the BIT, working with us to fast-track students into industry. Along with a financial scholarship, students benefit from a course co-designed by UTS and IBM, and gain exposure to real problems while learning alongside IT professionals.
Graduates in demand
Given the mix of practical skills our students have when they graduate, they are in high demand by employers. We have over 100 companies and organisations attending our annual careers fair.
Organisations can stand out from the pack by holding company information sessions on campus or by running career skills workshops. We also help partners find ways to connect with students and raise their brand profile through real case studies as part of course work.
For example, Telstra generates projects for the faculty of Design, Architecture and Building, setting third-year design students real-life business challenges. In 2008, the Telstra challenge was to find new creative uses for QR codes.
This style of assignment allows students to cut their teeth on practical business tasks, and the company is rewarded with a fresh set of ideas. Telstra is interested in implementing the winning project: a QR code for health applications.
UTS also enables organisations to advertise opportunities for casual work and full-time employment to students and alumni through our careers office and website.
