Work with top students

UTS Business School attracts outstanding students from around the world at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Live case studies, where students work with organisations to solve real challenges, are a valuable feature of our programs. They provide an opportunity for students to integrate and synthesise their knowledge from a range of disciplines as they develop a response to a complex business problem.

Not only do live case studies provide an invaluable learning experience for our students, they also provide access to some of the brightest minds in Australia to help organisations develop strategic responses to issues such as human resource planning, market entry and expansion, data analysis and interpretation, performance auditing and more.

Some examples include:

  • Integrated Business Consulting: a unit within the Executive MBA in which groups with a range of professional backgrounds act as consultants for a client, under the guidance of senior faculty and project managers. Following a brief outlining a real strategic opportunity or challenge, groups spend an entire semester developing a strategic recommendation for action.
  • Capstone Units, Bachelor of Business: each of the majors incorporate a capstone unit that involves students drawing on the knowledge gained throughout their major to work on a case study for a client such as developing an HR policy, an integrated marketing plan, financial audit etc, many involving presenting to the client not only on campus but throughout Australia

Academics work closely with organisations from every industry ranging from small start-ups to multi-nationals, from social enterprises to big business, to develop a case study that meets the strategic needs of clients and the rigorous educational needs of our students.
