Health and Safety Portal

This portal lists health and safety responsibilities for all Faculty of Science staff and students. It outlines practical steps, training requirements and resources to assist you meet these health and safety responsibilities.

All staff and students should meet the responsibilities below. You have additional responsibilities if you are an academic, a chief investigator and/or supervisor, research staff and/or student, a lab manager, supervisor or team leader, or an Administrative manager.

Induction and training

Staff and students should complete Safety and Wellbeing Essentials online training. This covers basic health and safety information, such as incident reporting, emergency response, first aid, wellbeing and accepted standards of behaviour.

Science Research Laboratory inductions

Before contacting your Research Laboratory Manager for an area-specific induction, you must complete Science Induction Modules 1 and 2 (SIM-01 and SIM-02). The induction presentations are linked in the table below and after you have read through the material you must pass the online competency assessment. Staff can do this assessment via NEO, students must complete it via UTSOnline.
