The pool of applicants for undergraduate courses for all Universities through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) has grown by 8% between 2007 and 2009. This was evident for both school leavers and non school leavers.

In 2009, over 29,800 students were enrolled at UTS in onshore and offshore courses.

The total number of staff (measured in full time equivalents) at UTS in 2009 was 2,682.

Research grants, excluding DEEWR research grants and UTS internal research funding, reached almost $23.9m in 2008.
UTS income was over $641m in 2008, with Commonwealth Operating Grant revenues totalling $174.3m and student contributions through HECS, PELS and Full Fees totaling $244m.

UTS has a high level of student diversity. About 31% of students come from a non-English speaking background, and 46% were born outside of Australia.

Course completions of award courses totalled 9,724 in 2008 (for students whose last year of enrolment was 2008, most of these completing students graduated in October 2008 and April-May 2009 ceremonies).

82% of UTS Australian graduates were in full-time or part-time employment 3 months after completion of their studies. The highest average salary for first degree graduates working Full time was earned by UTS Law and Engineering & Information Technology graduates. UTS graduates of postgraduate Engineering & IT programmes also earned the highest average salary of postgraduate programmes graduates followed by UTS Business postgraduates.
