Demand across all universities
- The pool of applicants for undergraduate courses for all Universities through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) has grown by 5% between 2009 and 2011. This was evident for both school leavers (^7%) and non school leavers (^3%).
- The growth areas across all Universities over the last three years were Engineering, Natural & Physical Sciences and Information Technology.
- Across all Universities there has been a reduction in demand for Society & Culture courses.
Demand for UTS
- At UTS, the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Business and Science attracted the most UAC applications in 2011.
- The UTS Bachelor of Science IT Bachelor of Laws has the ninth highest minumum ATAR cut off in the state. 15 UTS courses are in the top 25 in NSW.
- UTS attracted the highest number of first preference applications for Creative Arts courses in the state and the second highest number of first preferences in the fields of Information Technology and Management & Commerce.

Pathways to UTS
- Despite the high demand, there are other ways to get into UTS courses. About 41% of UTS offers in 2011 were made to applicants who were not current school leavers. These students come from a variety of backgrounds including TAFE and Insearch Institute.
