UTS at a glance
The pool of applicants for undergraduate courses for all Universities through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) has grown by 4% between 2006 and 2008. This was evident for both school leavers and non school leavers.
In 2007, over 32,000 students were enrolled at UTS in onshore and offshore courses.
The total number of staff (measured in full time equivalents) at UTS in 2007 was 2,525.
External research reached almost $31.2m in 2006.
UTS income was over $400m in 2007, with Commonwealth Operating Grant revenues totalling $150m and student contributions through HECS, PELS and Full Fees totalling $228m.
UTS has a high level of student diversity. About 31% of students come from a non-English speaking background, and half of all the students were born outside of Australia.
Course completions of award courses totalled 9,196 in 2007 (for students whose last year of enrolment was 2007, most of these completing students graduated in October 2007 and April-May 2008 ceremonies).
Of UTS graduates who were available for full-time employment, 87% were in full-time employment three months after completion of their studies. The average starting salaries ranged from $42,014 for first degree Nursing graduates to $92,553 for postgraduates in Design, Architecture and Building.
