On 14 June 2007, the Minister for Planning advised that the proposal to reuse the UTS Kuring-gai site for a range of potential uses constitutes a major project that should be assessed by the Department of Planning and subject to the Minister's approval. He also authorised the submission of a concept plan for the project.
In June 2008, the Minister approved the University's Kuring-gai campus rezoning application and concept plan, allowing UTS to move forward with its evaluation of all the options available for the campus' long-term future success.
