Overview

This prize was established in 1994 in memory of Samuel Hugh Huxham, who joined the NSW Institute of Technology in 1971 and was Head of the Statistics and Operations Research Unit at the time of his death in May 1994.

Who is eligible?

The Recipient must have completed the Bachelor of Science, Statistics major in the year for which the award is made.

Selection process

Selection Criteria in Priority Order:

  • The highest weighted average mark (WAM) awarded for all subjects in the degree.
  • In the event that two or more eligible students have the same WAM, the following criteria will be considered:
    • Performance in course outside of formal assessment that demonstrates mastery of and engagement in the subject;
    • Overall academic performance in the student’s award course, whether the student has failed other subjects, received academic cautions or had a finding of misconduct made against them.
