Overview

The Prize recognises outstanding academic achievement in the area of structural engineering. The Prize was established in 1991 by donations from the family and friends of the late Jack Kaganer to commemorate his long and distinguished service to what was then the School of Civil Engineering of NSWIT. Jack Kaganer was the second member of staff to join the School of Civil Engineering and played an important role in its development until his retirement at the end of 1984.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for the Prize, the Recipient must:

  • Be an undergraduate student with a major in Civil Engineering or Civil and Environmental Engineering, and
  • have successfully completed, on the first attempt, 49150 Prestressed Concrete in the relevant academic year prior to the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology prize-giving event.
  • Have achieved a minimum mark of 75 in 49150 Prestressed Concrete

Selection process

- The eligible student with the highest aggregate mark in 49150 Prestressed Concrete.

- In the event that two or more eligible students have the same highest aggregate mark, the following criteria will be considered:

  • Highest performance in subject 49150 Prestressed Concrete based on the overall aggregate mark (rounded to two decimal places) of the assessment tasks in the subject;
  • Highest performance in the assessment tasks in subject 49150 Prestressed Concrete, based on the mark (rounded to two decimal places) of individual assessment tasks, counting back from the assessment task with the highest weighting to the assessment task with the lowest weighting;
  • Highest overall academic performance by WAM in the session in which the subject was completed;
  • Highest overall academic performance by WAM for the academic year in which the subject was completed.
